Laura D. Castner has been a practicing litigation attorney for over 25 years. She has represented clients including large and small corporations, as well as high-profile individuals, in complex business disputes in state and federal courts. Among other matters, Laura has handled corporate and partnership disputes, including claims for breach of contract, fraud, misappropriation, and trade secret theft; copyright and trademark proceedings in federal courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board; and class actions. In addition, Laura has significant experience with state and federal appeals, and has argued before the California Court of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Laura is a member of the California, New York and New Jersey bars.
Laura grew up in New Jersey and attended Rutgers College, where she majored in Political Science and French, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated with highest honors. She earned her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Notes Editor on the Columbia-VLA Journal of Law and the Arts.
Following graduation from Columbia, Laura practiced for several years on the east coast before relocating to Los Angeles. In the course of her career, Laura has been privileged to practice with highly-regarded international law firms including Greenberg Traurig, as well as several prominent local firms.
Laura is a member of the Intellection Property Section of the American Bar Association, and is chairperson of the Joint Small Claims Court Subcommittee for the Copyright Legislation Committee, Copyright Litigation Committee, and Visual Arts, Dramatic Works, and Motion Pictures Committee.
