May F. Liou is the founder of Castleton Law Group, also known as The Law Offices of May Liou. Ms. Liou established her private practice in 1986, and has been serving the SoCal community for almost 30 years.
May Liou earned her Bachelor’s degree, with honors, from National Taiwan University. After emigrating from Taiwan, she attended graduate school in Michigan and obtained a Master of Arts degree. Upon relocating to Los Angeles, Ms. Liou attended Southwestern University Law School while managing a Fortune 500 company. She received her Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University in 1985 and was subsequently admitted to the State Bar of California initiating her lifetime passion for the practice of law.
Throughout her career, Ms. Liou has excelled in providing thorough and critical perspectives to her clients and the courts. Ms. Liou is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is admitted and qualified to practice in California Superior Court, the California Court of Appeals, United States District Court, and the United States Court of Appeals. From 1997 to 2001, Ms. Liou served as a member of the California State Bar’s Women in the Law Committee. Since 2006, Ms. Liou has served as a mediator for civil disputes and as Los Angeles Superior Court settlement officer in family law. Ms. Liou is a frequent lecturer on topics including trusts and wills, employment law, and the American legal system. Ms. Liou has published numerous legal articles in the Chinese-American media. These articles range in subjects including family law, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning, immigration, business organization and eminent domain.
May F. Liou is a dynamic member of the Chinese-American community in Los Angeles. Ms. Liou served as a board member at Grand National Bank from 1997 to 2001. She served as President of the Taiwanese Lions Club during 2001-2002 and is a Melvin Jones Fellow of the International Lions Club. She has earned international recognition as a benefactor of the Chinese-American community, and has received numerous awards, certificates of commendation, achievement, and appreciation from cities, communities, banks, private companies and other institutions. With her broad spectrum of knowledge and experience in diverse areas of law and her unique background in both the Chinese and American cultures, she has also been elected to sit on the board of many successful businesses. She currently serves numerous local businesses as their general corporate legal counsel.
Ms. Liou is an accomplished Chinese calligrapher and skilled in the art of Chinese brush painting. Her artworks are regularly exhibited.
James B. Green (Jamie) has been a practicing litigation attorney for 20 years. Jamie has represented local, national, and international corporate entities and partnerships in complex business litigation in state and federal courts. He has a particular expertise in business litigation, insurance, personal injury, real estate, employment, and family law. Jamie has successfully represented clients at trial and has argued numerous successful appeals before the California Court of Appeal. Jamie is a member of the California, Illinois, and New Mexico Bars.
Jamie grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History, with honors and high distinction, in 1992. While at University, Mr. Green served as President of the Student Assembly and won the William J. Branstrom Prize for having a GPA in the top 5% of his class. Mr. Green attended law school at the University of Chicago, earning his Doctor of Laws degree in 1995. While in law school, Mr. Green served as Vice President of the University of Chicago Student Government and was Managing Editor of The Phoenix, the law school newspaper.
Prior to joining Castleton Law Group, Jamie worked for some of the largest and most prestigious national and international law firms in the United States, such as Chicago-based Lord Bissell & Brook (now known as Locke Lord) and New York-based Greenberg Traurig.
In his free time, Jamie serves as Past President of his synagogue, KehillatMaarav in Santa Monica, and is the number one fan of his son’s opera career.
Jennifer E. Draheim has been a practicing litigation attorney in the State of California for over 20 years. She is also admitted to practice in the State of Ohio. Ms. Draheim has extensive experience in a variety of areas, including family law – divorce, custody and support, real estate, business litigation, business formation and organization, personal injury, construction site injuries, construction defect law, contracts and insurance law. She also has experience representing both employers and employees in employment-related negotiations, disputes and litigation, including wrongful termination, sexual harassment, discrimination and severance agreements.
Ms. Draheim was born in Inglewood, California and raised in the South Bay and Orange County Areas. She is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Economics. Ms. Draheim obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Toledo, College of Law in Toledo, Ohio. During law school she was an elected member of the Student Bar Association and worked as a Municipal Court clerk and Judge’s clerk.
Prior to joining Castleton Law Group, Ms. Draheim was associated with dynamic litigation firms in Orange County and as a partner for 16 years with the litigation firm Donovan &Draheim in Santa Ana, California.
Ms. Draheim is also admitted to the United States District Court, Central District of California. She is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Riverside County Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. Ms. Draheim is also a licensed Real Estate Broker by the California Department of Real Estate.
Lawrence P. Liu has been a practicing attorney for 10 years. He has extensive practice experience in estate planning, estate administration, business administration, employment law and family law. He has a particular interest in estate planning, and has prepared numerous estates for families of all sorts of financial backgrounds. He has also provided guidance and assistance to numerous families who have had difficulty administering their loved one’s estate, either through probate and/or trust administration. Aside from estate planning and administration, Lawrence has helped local businesses, large and small to operate more efficiently by assisting them with legal consultation as to their business operations. He also audits local businesses, so they may stay in compliance with local, State and Federal labor laws
Lawrence is an ABC and grew up in Los Angeles County and was raised in Rowland Heights. He is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Economics. Mr. Liu obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa. Lawrence is fluent in Mandarin, and has attended Chinese school for over 7 years.
Prior to joining Castleton Law Group, Lawrence worked as a staff attorney for O’Melveny and Myers in Downtown Los Angeles.
In his free time, Lawrence enjoys the great outdoors. He is an avid snow boarder and can often be found on the slopes of Mammoth Mountain in the winter. Lawrence also enjoys the beaches of California, and is often surfing the waves in BolsaChica, and Huntington Beach. Lawrence is still a resident of Rowland Heights and attends many community functions with the Rowland Heights Community Counsel, and Rowland Heights Senior Citizens Club with his father.
Ms. Lu is a licensed Chinese attorney of ten years. Her expertise is in business contract, commercial litigation and real estate investment in China. When she worked at law firm in Shanghai, she has been involved in providing legal services to several famous local projects. After joining Castleton Law Group, Karen focuses on civil litigation, general corporate counsel service, family law and estate planning. She also handles cases in connection with Chinese laws and regulations. Due to her international background, Karen has a rich understanding of business issues between U.S. and China.
Karen was born and grew up in Shanghai, China. She has dual legal educational backgrounds both in the U.S. and China. She graduated from East China University for Law and Political Science and earned a LLM degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law, in the program of International and Comparative Law, majoring in Financial Services.
In addition to her legal career, Karen is also an active member of SHN and she won the Public Interest Award when she was at Kent Law School. During her personal time, Karen is an avid adventurist whose interests include hikes, beaches, photography, painting, literature, music, art galleries and museums.
Karen is fluent in Chinese/Mandarin and English. She is also a native speaker of Shanghai dialect.
Anna Wu is Castleton Law Group’s office manager. Anna received her Bachelor of Arts in International Trade from Wuhan University of Science and Technology in mainland China. Anna also earned a Master’s in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, U.S.A.
By utilizing her business skills and knowledge, Anna utilizes her wealth of expertise in various fields, including accounting, marketing and business development, to back-up our legal staff in order to bring the most efficient and focused service to the clients. Anna is usually the first person with whom any new client will meet. She works closely with our attorneys in different fields to expertly assess each client’s particular needs. She serves as a critical liaison between clients, attorneys, courts, venders and other third parties in each case. Anna’s business and finance background brings a vital client-centered perspective to Castleton’s practice lacking at comparable law firms.
Anna also possesses a thorough grounding in the law. Anna has completed many hours of training in business, family law, and estate planning. She attended the 2014 annual meeting of the State Bar of California in San Diego and keeps the firm updated on new cases, statutes, and rules impacting all areas of Castleton’s practice. Anna organizes numerous legal seminars in the SoCal community. Most recently, she coordinated a Probate and Estate Planning seminar for Remax Team Nuvision, one of the most successful real estate brokers in Los Angeles County. She has a particular interest and expertise in real estate law, and actively works in partnership with other real estate investors across the country. Anna is also a certified notary public.
Most importantly, Anna values people and community and seeks to connect individuals from different backgrounds, fields, and experiences. Anna generously contributes her time and resources to charitable organizations. On a volunteer basis, she assists domestic violence victims with various legal issues through the Center for the Pacific Asian Family. Anna aspires to create and coordinate a non-profit organization associated with Castleton Law Group to create a better world.
In her spare time, Anna can be found snowboarding at Mammoth, Big Bear, Vail, and the Alps.
